the standard gauges on the e60 do not include engine temp, oil pressure, volts, etc.
can you get this info through the idrive?

 

This has been discussed at length with regard to the new vehicles. Some of the information is tangentially available in the car, but:

Volts are not available
Oil pressure is not available (but oil level is)
Engine temperature is available in a roundabout way via the receding redline LEDs on the tachometer

The point, I suppose, is that the vehicle WILL warn you if any of these are out of range, but there is no way for you to check them yourself when things are operating normally...
