What is the official EPA gas mileage on the 550 versus the 535? Thanks.

EPA figures, which are available on BMW's website, don't mean jack.
In 19K miles, my 550 has a lifetime MPG of 16.8. At meets, I have gotten as little as 10-11 mpg and on pure highway drives, I have gotten as much as 23-24 mpg.

my 535I in town I was averaging about 19mpg, on highway 30mpg+ at 80mph. Also I have what has been called a Lead foot, so for some this will be better.
My 530xi I get 21 in town and 32-3 on the highway.. which is amazing since I work it much harder around town.
With mixed driving I usually see about 300-330 on a tank on highway only runs it would be 470-500+ plus.

The F10 Media Information guide shows fuel consumption figures of 11.9 (city) / 6.4 (hwy) liters per 100 kilometers for the 535i and 15.4 / 7.5 for the 550i. The E60 550i was rated at 15.5/7.2 (there is no EU E60 535i?).
So the new 550i gets slightly better gas mileage than the E60 550i in the city but worse mileage on the highway - it should as it weighs more, has a bigger face (higher CD), and has much more power. I'm not sure how these figures convert into MPG, but the E60 550i was rated at 15/23 MPG.

07 550i I'm averaging 23-25mpg....and that's giving it the marbles atleast twice a day...80% highway driving. Hwy mileage is pretty decent...on long trips I've averaged in the high 20's. city driving kills it though. As well as warming up your car every morning. I usually see about 1.2mpg avg drop every morning from the 5 min warm up it gets.

6.4L/100KM = approx 37MPG
15.4L/100KM = approx 15MPG
7.5L/100KM = approx 31MPG
15.5L/100KM = approx 15MPG
7.2L/100KM = approx 33MPG
I rounded up

Also looking at your post I realized you have a F10 on order...so any advice you will get won't matter. You should have specified that up front.
So if you got the tt v8 or DSST I6 no one will have Any reference since nether engine is currently in any E60....
Best to check and see if any one has a 550gt or A X6... though the fuel mileage will be way off compared to the F10... the bulk the motor has to lug around is a huge difference and I don't think either have the 8speed auto either...yet
