I have been checking my MPG over the last couple of tanks, and I'm only getting 15 MPG.
I only have 1500 miles on the car, drive 75% of the time in D, not that hard, but I like to get on it now and again in DS.
On the highway my compter averages 19 MPG, in the city less then 12.
Does this seem right?
One other odd thing I notice, my MPG meter when slowing to a stop with the brakes applied will swing all the way to the right ( min. MPG ) then to the left at stop.
I have never seen this on any other BMW I have owned, is this normal on a 545, has anyone else noticed this?
Thanks in advance DR.Z
The meter thing is right. It does the same in mine. as you get to a stop light it starts going higher and higher and it ends up all the way to the left while stopped.
I am getting 18.3 with somewhat hard driving around town (37mph average), with a definete heavy foot...

I reset mine regularly during different parts of a trip to see how I do on the highway or street.

i have a 530 and my average is 17.4 mpg in d and 16.9 in ds. 95% of the time is city driving. so yours is a 545 and the numbers look ok to me.
agree but theoretically bigger engine means eat more gas, right ? but again, it all depends on the driving condition. i have less mpg just because i drive around city 95% of the time.
Sure in theory but power to weight must play a role too. I wonder if all 525's are getting such low numbers?
