This Pointset stuff is crap. it is just a patent that me thinks is undefendable. Their patent covers using a computer to dowload settings to an appliance in any form, such as usb, a keyfob, etc and then dowloading those settings into the car/appliance. I am no lawyer, but this would be hard to defend.

Regardless, I think it's a neat idea. If it's not a defendable patent, fine. Either way, I'm betting that we'll see something like this on our cars in the future...

I know some European members already have the ability to add destinations to their NAV address books from a web interface and have them sent to their E60's.

With my '03 E55, you could unlock your car from the web--pretty cool if you locked yourself out (one of those "cool" features that you'll probably never use).

Waiting for the day when I can drive my BMW to the service center with a joystick over the web. No need for a loaner!

Did you try your other key? The key that went into service with the CIP upgrade retained all info.. but the key that staied behind lost all info for me.

Actually correction... Both keys retained their settings... I just wasnt looking ahrd enough. the radio changed to manual tuning instead of being at the presets so I THOUGHT key 2 settings were lost but later on in the day when i was going to go fix all the settings I found them to be still there.
