I use premium 91 octane.
Why not use the grade BMW recommended?

We were first told that we could only use 91 octane. And for about a week, at the gas station near my house they only had 89 so i have been using that for my last few cars. My rep said it should be okay as long as i dont go below 89 octane.

I only use 93 and better. If u can afford a bmw then u can afford the extra $3-5 that u save everytime when u fill up your tank with 89.

I use 98 octane. I have conducted controlled (well almost) experiments on using either 98, 95 or 91 octane. The result is I get better than the price difference in fuel consumption with (my style of driving). So it is cheaper to use the higher octane.

I use 100 octane exclusively. Car has a couple mods, it's not my daily driver and racing fuel increases my performance very nicely. Racing fuel available at Union 76.

98, as is the preferred choice by BMW. In my country they recommend 95 (which is some kind of "standard fuel choice" for petrol cars), but seriously why compromise on such an important thing after paying so much for a car like this?

Tried 100, but didn't notice that much difference so I stick with 98.

I use 93 octane.

I try not to let the car die of thirst.

Treat the car well and the car will treat you well.
