Fuel leak
I have a 2005 545I with 215,800 miles. Recently I found a fuel leak where the fuel line connects to the fuel rail. It's a quick connect. Is there an O-ring there than can be replaced.

There is no o-ring at that connection.
One way to go about fixing that leak is to replace that funky connection with generic connection.
Or, replace that hose from the fuel rail to the connection up to the drivers side strut tower.
#8 in the attached picture. This is for 530i. Yours may be slightly different; but the connector is the same.

Unfortunately, the N62 V8 fuel line (from the quick connect coupling) is part of the entire fuel injector rail. There is also no o-ring, so you would either have to buy the entire fuel injector rail, or find some way to repair the connection.

If you are inclined to do work arounds like this on your car, then don't see why it wouldn't work. The 545 is a low pressure fuel injector system unlike the hpfi systems of the direct injection units. You are looking at 5-6 bars of pressure in the system. A properly sized barbed connector with 2 clamps on each side should be more than adequate. Or you could get a pair of Parker barbed connector, one male and one female to insert into the fuel line.

Just think about it for a minute. There are garden hose repair kits that look the same as what pcy shows. House water pressure is like 40 psi and up. 545i is a low pressure fuel pump. As long as you are using fuel line hose and fittings suitable for gasoline, you are fine to rig it up. Or, if that makes you uncomfortable, replace the broken part completely.

Also so you dontt have to cut the original lock ring in half like I did cause the new one is thinner . Here is the part number for a new lock ring NAPA p/n 730-5729 , Advance and Auto Zone use Dorman p/n 800-189
Here is my thread on it if your interested .
