Fuel injector(s) & software to program them
Looking for a software/cable solution to program the new fuel injectors I'm installing in the car.
Back story:
535iXdrive, E60/N54 engine, 64k miles, #2 cyl misfire. I've done all the trouble shooting I know, which was swapping coil packs, changing the spark plugs (very carbon fouled). This being my 3rd BMW, I've got a little experience under my belt. Swapped #1 injector with #2 injector and got a misfire on both #1 . Without being able to program the upper and lower values in the car, obviously it will throw a code on both. Before trying to put the new injectors in, I wanted to isolate the misfire(s) by programming the upper and lower values of the current injectors before opening the new ones up. The current injectors are the *****261 part number. The new ones I have to install are the *****079 part number.
I bought a K/D-CAN cable from eBay that came bundled with the software, but doesn't seem to work. First time I installed the (cheap) dcan cable in my car, it broke a solder joint in the cable and I had to resolder it to the circuit board. (still might not have a good connection) The software included with the cable (INPA) doesn't seem to be all there. When I make it to the injector section, it doesn't display like I've seen demonstrated on youtube, and when I try to put in values, it just gives me blank errors… (still not overlooking the cable) So….
My question, "Does anybody have a cost effective, reliable cable/software solution I can get that will work with a Mac or Windows 7, in the event your suggestion requires a computer?"
Thanks in advance,
~Chuk
