Every so often I notice some hesitation when I accelerate, I bought the car off a lease and it now has 67k miles. A bmw dealer by me is has a special for a fuel injection flush and wondered if it was worth $125.

Thanks.

Yes it is worth it but not from the stealers, just buy some yourself from an auto shop, stick it in your tank and thats it!!!!!

You can do that, but I'm not really sure if that's going to fix your problem. From what I've read in reviews of e60s (and other Bimmers for that matter) and what I've felt on my own and my friends', that's kind of an issue that some BMWs have. It's not horribly intrusive nor does it happen all the time, but there is a slight delay, occasionally, between pressing the accelerator and actually accelerating. Let us know if the the fuel injection flush helps, though.

If you regularly purchase and use premium (hi-test) gasoline from a "Tier 1" supplier http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html your engine is receiving a regular dose of fuel detergents. I have, occasionally (1-2 x/year) used Chevron Techron http://www.chevron.com/products/ourfuels/p...itives/tcp.aspx fuel treatment added to a full tank of gasoline.

If you are having a fuel injector "problem", the injector itself won't be 'repaired' by this injector flush the dealer is trying to sell you. BTW, there is a huge profit in the injector service - just ask an honest garage!

I use Techron. It's the same as what they sell at the dealership, sans the BMW logo.

About $7-8 at Walmart, etc. Put it in when you you have about 1/4-3/8 tank. That will concentrate it. Run around on that for a couple of days, then add about 1/2 a tank of fuel. Next fill-up, add another bottle.

+1 what I said

My preferred time is just before a good long highway run ... with full throttle bursts thrown in (carefully) for good measure.

Thanks for the info, for now I'll try the Techtron cleaner and see if that helps but if it is a common problem I'll save my money.

it can be 2 things; a carbon build up or a tune up problem. try this first (its free & fun). take it to the highway and floor it few times, run the engine hard, do some hard 1k to 6k to 1k rpm runs, do it in low gear. this should clear up some carbon build up. look at the exhaust smoke if its black. if this doesnt help, you probably need a tune up and dont forget the fuel filter. let us know how it goes.

I notice this too every now and then, but can't figure out what it is.. Let me know if the fuel treatment works for you, and i'll do the same for my car..
