the fuel guage is an actual representation of how much is in the tank.
But just want to point out that sometimes the fuel gauge goes back up a little after driving on the highway a short while, any thoughts on this?

So if the needle is a direct representation of the fuel it shouldn't "go back up"

One of the reason I can think of where the fuel gauge goes back up is that not all fuel that feed the high pressure fuel system is used and those that are not used will go back to the tank. Since M5 is a V10 the fuel pressure will be very high so more fuel will be in the fuel system and when you ease off on your gas those unused gas will go back to the fuel tank. Do you know what I am saying?

yeah this is BS. of course the analog shows the remaining amout of gas in your tank, like every car ever made ![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
The digital gauge is something different, that shows the estimated range based on the ratio of actual driving (speed, traffic, up/down hill...etc) and the actual gas in the tank.
Also one would say RTFM !!!!!
