I guess it has smth to do with the diesel architecture. But the same rule i know it was applayed to gas engines. Air is fed through the injectors or smth like that and your in alot of trouble if u do that because the car won't start (as i've been told) only by putting gas in the tank. Injectors have to be air free or smth, so that requires a service. check. Some say it might ruin your engine. How i can't say because it could never be explained!

I have never gone that low, but I think you are empty on zero.

i had to have a new fule pump fitted to a astra diesel one because it ran out of fuel ,, cost ?900 and that was a cheap job

1983 Mercedes 300sdt wouldnt start after ran on empty and re-fueld, had to get it serviced.
