I am wondering how much fuel left in the tank when fuel gauge starts to point to 0.
What's your experience?
What's your experience?
I once did go for the limit in my old E39,
and I had, as the computer told my,
less than half a litre of gas left!
But I must say that the E60 computer is not as
accurate as it used to be in the facelifted E39!

I 've run it down to where the computer says I have less than 10 miles several times and I don't recall ever filling it up with much more than 17 gallons. The gauge is pretty conservative.

Well yesterday I ran the car to ---miles as I just wanted to say I'd done this particular trip without stopping!! Anyway, I ran for 5 miles on --- miles and it took 68 litres to fill to the neck of the tank. I guess there must be 70 litres in the tank (+ the neck) so I'd guess you have approx 3-4 litres after ---miles is displayed. Having said that, if you go up a steep hill you could start hitting problems pretty quickly running the car this low and it's never a great idea!

Never, ever drive your car so that it runs out of fuel.
And this goes especially to diesel drivers.
