Can anyone confirm that the Fuel filter is located in the fuel tank, is a assembly with the sending unit, and is a couple hundred dollars?

Thanks

Just want to make sure before I throw another couple hundred at the car.

I have recently replaced mine and it was located under the car (beneath the passenger seat).
However mine is a 530d, do you have a petrol or diesel engine?

The book says it's a "lifetime" part. It's located in the left lobe of the fuel tank - integrated with the fuel level sender and pressure regulator. it only comes as 'one' part (16146765826)

So like the transmission fluid, is a lifetime consider 100k or?

Since my fuel pump took a dump I was considering a filter as well

And looking at the fuel pump assembly it looks like I will have to remove the filter on the left lobe in order to replace the fuel pump assembly

Ok put it all together and it all runs.

Pain in the ass.

Yes you do have to remove the fuel (driver's side of the tank) filter to replace the fuel pump. Yes I did replace the fuel filter. Yes it was expensive (~$200). Yes the Fuel pump is expensive too. >$260

Yes the tank need the be a half tank or less to replace everything,

No when you buy the oem brand (bosch) fuel filter and the the fuel pump it does not come with replacement o-rings.
