Hey guys,
Someone pried open my fuel filler door and stole the gas cap. Now, the fuel filler door does not lock anymore when th alarm is activated.
I have not replace a new gas cap yet because all the stores were already closed by the time I found out about the theft.
Does the gas cap needs to be replaced in order for the fuel filler door to lock or are there something else that needs to be fixed?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Daniel

With the gas door open, cycle your door locks with the key fob and see if the black plastic pin extends and retracts. If not, it was probably was broken off when they pryed the door open. Easy to replace the steel rod and plastic tip. Go to the trunk and pull the right side liner out. You can cycle the door locks again with the key fob to help you locate the electric motor that pushes and pulls the steel rod. You can buy a new rod and attach it to the motor. The rod is stainless steel and is like thick wire. Very simple.

Thanks for the very useful and encouraging info! I can't seem to find the parts you mentioned in www.realoem.com. Would you please provide the link or something in reference?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Just in case if someone might need this info in the future, here is a link to the parts: RealOEM.com BMW E60 530i FILL-IN FLAP
Apparently, when he/she pryed the fuel door open, he/she broke the rubber grommet (#13). I know so because I found the broken piece.
Thus, I will have to order one and see if I can replace it myself.
