Your MPG is normal for a 530D, I average 31 mpg UK.

This is accurate
Yeah, I'm getting about the same sort of average and I'm chuffed considering! If I'm really careful on a long motorway haul I can easily hit 45mpg.

AFAIK wheels are NOT RFT specific.
Well the wheels do have an extra hump (EH2) for RFT's. This is to keep the tyre on the hub in the event of loss of pressure.

However, 'normal' tyres go on just fine.

Very welcome fraseman999 to this Forum.

263,000 miles is about 430 thousand kilometers

The 523i had 170 hp and your current E60 530d has about 218 hp (I suppose you bought it used).

I suppose your new car is freshly served and all oils and filters (!) have been changed?

A 530d loves the 225/55 16" wheels - no more than 225/50 17" for comfort and no RF tyres!

Look at the pic close and understand how easy it is to confuse metrics and US (G measures!

I still don't know the answer to this.

If you have a full car with full boot/trunk, where do you put a damaged non-runflat in the event of a puncture?

What's the largest wheel/rim width (inches or J) it fit in the spacesaver/donut recess?

ABC
From the bottom of the recess to the bottom of the storage tray it's 155mm, or a shade over 6". However, the tray can be relatively easily removed (there's only 2 plastic plugs retaining it) and reversed, thus adding another 75mm / 3", which should be enough to store a normal wheel.

Hardly practical, but feasible. Oh, and you need a 2 mm pin driver or a small screwdriver to remove the plastic plugs...

Not quite exactly 25%. There's an interesting story behind it...
Not even close to 25%. It's 20%.

Thank you for enlightning me and being polite enough to say "not quite exactly" - or didn't you notice the magnitude of my faux pas?

Anyway. I will now dispense with my personally developed theory - the real explanation is much more convoluted and therefore gets the points for being QI.

Indeed - sounds like a UK question, especially as someone is bothered about the mpg...
Of course there are other territories where "mpg" figure (well maybe one other) but the clues to UK were the "530d" and "Parkers Guide".

Thanks guys, for all the posts and welcomes.
I have since been given some advice from a Scottish traffic cop. The Strathclyde Police run the e60 530d as a pursuit vehicle and due to the fact they get lots of punctures due to driving over debri and stuff after road accidents. They have fitted 16 inch tyres something like 225 50 16. They are also much cheaper to replace. Only one problem when the car is travelling at high speed the tyres are not holding the road and the car as the cop put it is becoming dangerous! They have contacted bmw as the situation is becoming so dangerous. They never had this problem with the e69. So he advised me to keep the wider tyres runflats or not and get used to the ride!

Going out to check if my cars on US gallons

Thanks
