Gee, you're only using 20% of your car.

Mine's about the same average. Sux!

Here is a UK contribution on fuel consumption where we enjoy the superior benefits of BMW's diesel engines over their petrol versions.

On the point of fuel consumption my 530dA (231BHP) returns average 40 mpg (UK) or 33.3 mpg (US) or approx 7lt/100km. On a motorway journey cruising between 80-90 mph and slowing to 60 mph (stupid UK speed limits on motorways) this increases to 43-44 mpg. This equates to approx 630 miles per tank.

One point - I try to keep my tyres at 36 psi as reduced pressure seems to have the biggest impact on mpg.

Anyone else seeing similar figures?

My car is a 530d SE Auto (231 BHP) with 18" rims 2006 vintage and approx 27k miles on the clock.

I too see an average of just over 40 mpg (UK) on my car a 525d LCI auto.

My sligthly overweigthed 530i (additional weight due to the extras) returns 32 UK mpg with 50% motorways and 50% city traffic and on motorways only around 35-36 UK mpg. Not that bad for being a petrolissimo, I guess...?

I got some nice consumption readings today on my road trip to my parents:
- 5,5l / 100km
- 51,3 mpg UK
- 42,7 mpg US

I was surprised by this since I had my winter wheel setup on(studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5).

Drove Boston to NYC in under four hours average speed 80+/- MPH only got 22 MPG according to I Drive.

One another trip drove much slower (was breaking in the car) got 24 MPG.

Not bad for a 535XI T
