all motorway to Lancaster Morcambe, AND BACK THROUGH BIRMINGHAM AND BACK AGAIN, A WHOLE ROUND TRIP WITH 547 MILES IN TOTAL AND MY TANK WAS ON HALF OF A QUATER, SO ALMOST OUT

A PIC OF WHEN I SET AT THE BEGINNING OFF AT THE APPALLING TRAFFIC LACED M25 (Car park city it was, but the mpg was still reasonable)

M25 > ONTO M1 > ONTO M6 JUNCTION 19 (M1) > JUNCTION 34 (M6) >

TO BIRMINGHAM JUNCTION 7 (M6) > ONTO M1 > ONTO M25 > HOME

to sum it up i reckon it total motorway driving i get around 600 miles (only possible with a ecu remap!!!!) within this about 15 miles city driving, birmingham traffic in Hockley!!

Fantastic. This is even better than I used to get from a 2.0 TDi Mondeo which averaged 49mpg and a Passat that did around 51 mpg

In the movie "The Blues Brothers" when the Blues Brothers curse in front of the nun, (penguin), she hits them across the knuckles with a ruler!

done a Ellesmere port to Glasgow run at the weekend and got 24.2mpg. At a reasonable cruising speed most of the way.

I have 4000 km up on my 520d manual, last fill was 65.54 ltrs for 1066 km, I calculate that at 46.2 imperial mpg.
Will this improve in time?
I tend to use cruise control as often as possible and I dont drive fast, usually at the limit.
My driving would generally be 70% motorway and 30% town.
Thanks in advance for feedback.

My 2005 545 sport Manual says 19.6 mpg on the Idrive. My dads buddy let me borrow his 2004 545 non-sport Step before i bought my car and when i was driving that around the Idrive said 21.5-22 mpg. I only drive city, ive only been on the highway once and ive owned the car for 3 weeks now haha.

'07 530xi Steptronic

During the past 9 months, computing for approximately 8K mixed driving, avg mpg = 22.77mpg (tracked by actual consumption/mileage).

Tank to tank computation is generally within .3mpg of the on board computer report.

UPDATE>

Just completed a 2 day round trip from Southern NJ to upstate NY; mix of highway, some heavy stop and go traffic through construction zones, 40 miles of heavy city traffic (thus the lower avg mph), and a bit of heavy rain that slowed traffic for about one of the total 12 hours of driving. Almost 29mpg is OK with me!
