Fuel Consumption

Didn't know that, learning stuff everyday, thanks
I've had a car in the past that ran on LPG (Liquid petroleum gas). LPG has a RON rating of over 100 (i believe 105 or 110).
The problem with most LPG cars is that after 200k km (165k miles) all the valves would have burned to a crisp and most of the time the head would need to be replaced.
LPG burns at a far higher temp than regular petrol, but it runs well (when it doesn't burn your engine

Did you notice any difference in fuel consumption after the car was remapped/tuned?
I'll come back on that next week.

To add to this thread a similar post to one I placed on another recentish thread.....
As some of you may know I have an LCI 525d (197ps 3.0d engine) with a manual gearbox - had it from new and it's now covered 35k miles. Several weeks ago I did a 250 mile motorway journey, and as I was in no hurry I drove the entire journey between 55 - 60 mph. The car returned an indicated 63 mpg - AMAZING. I know the OBC will be reading in an optomistic way, but even if this is 10% optomistic, that's still 56.7 from a 3.0 I6!!!!!
In reality, it's difficult to maintain this kind of speed I know, but as a comparison, at a constant 70 mph I usually get around 55 - 56 mpg over a long distance, compared to around 50 mpg at a constant 80 mph, and high 40's (47 - 49 mpg) at 80+. Mixed driving using returns between 43 - 45 mpg. Constant urban is around 38 - 42mpg. I never see below 38 mpg!
Fantastic car - great blend of performance (if not up to the level of the 530d's & 535d's) vrs economy - love it!

Your car should run fine with the MAF unplugged, not sure about potential error messages as this info I carry over from other cars from the past, including my older E46 320d........
You "MAY" need to have your main stealer update your ECU that it has a new MAF, this is a bone of contention, some people say you do, some dont.
Safe defaults.................a set of safe mixture levels which will let your engine run safely, in the ommision of dynamicaly adjusting variations being supplied by your MAF.

In my E60 no, in my old 320d E46 yes, no problems and no lights.....and also in my old E34 525i Sport.......no lights, no problems
I have only had the car for 2000 miles, so the MAF may have been replaced under warranty in the past, I dont know..........my car had a full parts and labour deal on it or something in the past.

Hi,
2 weeks ago I did an economy run from Edinburgh to Alness (25 miles north of Inverness) up the A9 approx 170miles and got 50mpg at a constant speed of 57mile/hour, in sixth gear that?s only 1500rpm. The A9 only has about 10 miles of dual carriageway and all the rest is single. I used less that ? of a tank of fuel.
I have not reset my trip computer and have done over 800miles since then. It is reading 42.1mpg which has included a lot of town driving and a couple of trips back to Edinburgh and home again. The last trip from Edinburgh I was pushing 80- 90mph all the way to Inverness as my G/F was in hospital.
If I drive normally I get 40+mpg on a run and 35ish mpg round town.
I don?t know if it makes any difference but the car was serviced in December 08.
The car I have is Oct 2006 530d (231bhp) M Sport, know that?s amazing.
