Hi, I have done approx 17,000 miles in a 525d and I drive a LOT on motorwars with cruise control. When I do this I see 36.x mpg and when in town can be anything like 26 to 33 when I drive the 2 miles to the train station from cold start.
To get accurate mpg I often reset the counter when on a motorway. It does take ages to increase a low average. I can't understand this, the distances where I have low mpg are like 1-2 or 3 miles. When on a motorway I am normally doing 100miles+ each journey.
Anyway I have seen 40+ when setting cruise at 60-70mph and when above 70 I get approx 36.x

Hope this helps. Its kind of what I expected.

Power does not come for free! Remember that we have much lower relative consumtion than 545i or even 530i owners.

I'm not gettting anything higher than 26mpg on mine. I'm happy with that considering how I drive it

I would like to see 30's every now and then when I choose to drive easy.

If I fill mine up and reset the computer I will see only 22mpg from round town driving. I believe this is down to the auto box keeping the car in 2nd and 3rd gears only. Its nothing to do with me mashing the throttle to floor at every given opportunity. If I had manual I'd be in 4th and 5th. I know this as I borrowed a manual diesel. Its still better than petrol though, the same style of driving in my old 528 would put the consumption at 17 - 18mpg.

I am getting between 39 and 43 average over 600 mile trips - average speed being between between 70 and 95mph (can't recall the exact average). I am convinced the tuning box is helping - no question.

6,000 miles in - 535d.

535D,

Do you ever whilst flooring the car at 1,500rpm believe any other car could be faster?

That is a huge difference over what I'm getting (and others). Do you remember what you were getting before the tuning box? If it improves the mpg that much, it's definitely worth justifying to the wife now

530dA (2004) 40.000 KM

City: 10-12 L/100 KM

Consumption around 8,0 L / 100 KM in regular driving.

Highway when we drive long ditance driving: 6.8 - 7.5 L / 100 KM (speed: 125 - 150 km/h).
