Maybe not just 530D s

ive just got a 525D auto 17K on the clock, 2006 from my local BMW dealer after handing back an M3 after few "interesting" months got it a fair price in credit to them.

So far love the car and and its smoothness, and lack of rattles + noise, Im sick of 6 speed BMW manual boxes with dodgy clutches had two of them in E46s so this ones an auto which is very good. Used to have 320D for three years great car but this is far better

but OMG the fuel consumption is as bad as the M3 !!

Been getting a low 20s average mixed 30ish 60ish motoring no stops, just did a motorway run at 62mph with the cruise on 32 mpg !! half a tank is showing 180 miles to go

Im guessing this is not good especially for a 525D that without driving it hard, the car drives fine but !!

Going to mention it to the dealer but any advice CIP upgrade, dodgy Catalyst ?

If you're relying on the iDrive to provide the info, make sure your system is set to Imperial gallons (not US gallons).

My wife can magic 10mpg more than me out of my 535d without any apparent delay to our arrival time even on a long journey.

What is it with these women folk, my wife managed an incredible 46 mpg out of my 530d (admittedly on a 300 mile run), best I ever get is mid to late 30's!!!

Either way, my e60 gets a lot more than 26 mpg, and I wouldn't say I drive like a nun.............

Is 46mpg a "brim to brim" calculation?

I finally did a 210 mile run today, averaging some slow cruising speeds with a few miles of crawling. At one point the on board computer showed fuel consumption to be a heady 40.3 mpg. When I brimmed it again it calculated at at 35mpg. Town driving is still calculating using brim to brim at 23 to 25 mpg.
