Car must be running and stationary to start the reset process. Mine only takes 5-10 seconds to initialize (I've got a slow leak, so I have alot of recent experience with this thing).

If you have to drive around for much longer, something must be wrong.

As of a recent software update (like >19 I think), the FTM on my car is VERY quick. If you re-initialize it, within a few seconds of driving it goes back to Active. I take it this may not help you but if you need an excuse for a software update, this is one!

I just had the car in for 15,000 sevice at JMK BMW,(#1), and they put on a new set of Dunlop RFT's up graded the software to 22.02.01 and they said it would correct the problem but Status FTM Active doesn't come on .To satisfy myself to make sure it would detect a flat I let 10 psi out of one of the rear tires and within less than than a mile the flat tire symbol came up on the display,HUD and the NAV screen. After the tires cooled down I put 10 psi back into the tire and set up the FTM as instructed in the manual, (exactly), and the Status FTM Active doesn't come on
cheers
vern.
