I got such a kick out of reading this ONLY because I can soooo relate to you bud. I have 3 sisters. I gave my older sister my 2006 G35 sedan. When i owned that car I washed it twice a week, waxed it once a month, didnt have a single scratch on it....now..... only washing its gotten in 2years is the rain....inside looks like a farm/park, has dents, scratches and heaven knows what else on the paint. Check engine light has been on for months now!

My two younger sisters own a 2004 Camry. Theyve broken the side mirrors and scratched the bumpers numerous times. Honestly I dont mind fixing it for them but when they turn to me and say "I went to school and when I came back half the bumper was missing along with the mirrors", gets me soo irritated.

My girlfriend has a 2007 G35 coupe...those brakes havent been changed for over 2yrs now. Rotors are screwed up, paints chipping and dont even wanna mention the bumper...she doesnt give two $hits!!!

I feel ya man!

I will post some pictures of the two cars. I love her but hate her habbits . No plans on leaving her, she is an attorney and I would be royally screwed .
I dont know what kind of law she practices, but speaking from experience, sometimes you just dont have the time to do all the things you want because you have a large caseload or are trying to reach your billable hour requirement. I'm not trying to justify treating the car like crap, I'm just saying that sometimes you have other things on your mind, it's a stressful job.

Well cooler heads revailed as expected. Once, I was over the anger, I realized that I was somewhat out of line as well. We have decided that the best thing for us in the long run is to have her purchase her own car. This is one less thing I want to worry about. I already have enough on my plate, her adding more stress doesn't help. For now she is driving the rental and will probably drive one of the two bimmers after she is past her pride. Once she gets her own car, I will sell the spare.
I know I can't change her but my main concern is how the kids are picking up her habbits as well. Fortunately, one of them turned out anal-retentive like me, so there is hope .

No kidding. I remember when my sister bought her 1st car, an Audi A4, she was driving around with the red oil light on. I asked her, why she didn't take it in right away? She told me, its one of those things she has to get to. I mean, engine oil light here!
Its amazing that my sisters know so little when I do all my work, be it changing engines, swapping heads, trannies etc. I wouldn't trust my sisters to add windshield washer fluid to my cars because they will add it to the coolant, lol.

No, kids need to learn to respect things, especially expensive things like cars. If you don't teach them now, it will be much more expensive in the future.
+1. Can't change my wife but would hate to see my daughters act the same way. I can completely see where my wife picked all this up. You gotta see my mother-in-laws car, you can never open a cup holder because they are full of coke goo. I mean, she would eat peanuts in her car and leave the shells in the center console, yuck! LOL

This is the best story ever! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Hey Raj, ya sick ol' bastard, are you coming to the meet on the 25th or what???? If so, let the wife come in one of your other 50 cars. I have to meet this broad.
Unfortunately there is a clash for the 25th. I will be in Hershey PA for a big Porsche swap meet and gathering. I was really excited to see that we will be having a get together and I would have loved to meet some of you. I hope there is another one soon.
She can only come in one of the bimmers because she can't drive a stick shift .

I'm lucky... my fiancee doesn't like to drive at all and she says she never wants to drive my car. She knows how anal I am about it... I don't let anyone eat/drink in the car, am very carful about where I park, clean it all the time.

Good luck Raj! I think you're making the smart move by letting your wife buy her own car and take car of it by herself. It will teach her about the upkeep of a car and what happens when you abuse it (esp the depreciation). Unfortunately, it will be a costly lesson.

Wise words, my friend. Unfortunately, these lessons hurt us both financially. Sometimes we just have to do what's better in the long run even if it means $$ wasted in the short run. She has no idea on which E60 to buy. I am sure it will be an Xi .
