Depends on the damage, the installer I sent you included the new mouldings and since it was cracked, not smashed, they were able to reuse the sensors. So that installer is BS'ing you
I just talked to the installer you referrered me too and they quoted me $1100 with oem glass and $680 with after market glass. Looks like I cant get that great deal you got before.

Does any one know where I can get my front windshield repaired at a good price in the LA or Orange County area. Just cracked my windshield last night and wanted to see if any one knew a good place before I consider the dealership. Thanks.

Did you check if its covered under warranty? tell them a branch fell off a tree and cracked it.. happened to me this year and it was covered, alot of people have it and dont even know.. my windshield was replaced by a company called safelite, the coveered everything including persuasions of the insurance company for payment.. heres a link to their webiste, they did a solid job and replaced it with OEM material http://www.safelite.com/ GL

Sorry about that man, I just had it done not long ago, don't know where they pulled your quote from.

Got it done at All Star Glass (San Jose) - just had to pay the $100 deductible since my insurance covered the rest. They used a Saint Gobain Sekurit windshield
which is similar to but not quite OEM. Rain sensor seems to work fine but just had one opportunity to test it.

You know I'm not surprised your getting ridiculous quotes. I got mine done from safelite also. At first the clerk said $1000 for the windshield. I asked her if she gave me the right quote she said o my mistake its $349. Call again and say that's what your friend was charged. Btw the glass was aftermarket and not oem. The oem glass cost about $150 more.

Definetly go through your insurance company...you should'nt pay any more than $125 out of pocket! I've had 2 windshields replaced, the first one was with OEM glass, the latest is another brand but rainsensers work as advertised so IMO glass make doesn't matter.
