Does any one know where I can get my front windshield repaired at a good price in the LA or Orange County area. Just cracked my windshield last night and wanted to see if any one knew a good place before I consider the dealership. Thanks.

I did this recently and you have to be careful, get OEM glass (insist on it) because it can affect your sensors for rain.

So did you use OEM glass and have it installed at another place? If so where did you get it done at and how much did it cost you. Thanks.

it cost me like $480, but they used OEM glass to replace, once I find the invoice I'll let you know who did it (it was like 3 months ago)

i am in north cal, and i got it done for cheap in redwood city for $325 out the door. they use ppg glass which oems for bmw/mercedes, etc. the glass looks identical to the old one (you can see the dots around the edge), even have the same module for the rain sensor and looks exactly like the old one. the guy show me he paid $175 for the glass. he said if i use some non-oem glass i can save another $75.

good luck searching, i bet LA is even more price competitive so it shouldn't cost you much more. do a search on yelp.com for windshield replacement. i watched them do it and it did take 3 guys like 45 mins to do it, so i consider the $325 is an excellent deal. you can also check to see if your insurance will cover it. the guy at the shop said you technically can change your comprehensive deductible to the lowest and make a claim that way (it shouldn't increase your insurance rate).

just a thought.

Call Saflite. My insurance company had them replace mine a couple of years ago, and the did a nice job, right in front of my office. And they used an OEM BMW windshield..

I was told by one installer that I need to buy new windshield molding and condensation sensors, does anyone know if this is true.

Depends on the damage, the installer I sent you included the new mouldings and since it was cracked, not smashed, they were able to reuse the sensors. So that installer is BS'ing you
