Hi, A few months ago bought a CPO 2007 530XI.

On the back edge of the front bumper, under the car there is a strip of rubber that sticks down about 2 inches.
It is only held on by 3 screws.

My wife managed to snag it on something and pull one end loose.

To my eye it looks like part number 51117126969.

So, the question is, how important is this part?
Worth the hassle to replace?
Thanks

I noticed the same thing on mine. I don't recall seeing this piece on the current 3-series (E9x), maybe it's 5-series specific. Aerodynamics?

You should be able to patch up the plastic/rubber part. Automobile manufacturers are using every trick in the book to improve aerodynamics and air flow over and under and around cars. In some cases plastic pieces like that will actually redirect air flow to cooling system or brakes by creating higher pressure areas etc. In other cases these pieces are intended to prevent water (rain etc) or road debris from going places where it may do some harm.

It probably isn't a really big deal but IMHO if you can do a simple inexpensive fix - do it. BTW, I have this under the front of my car too and I have an '07 530xi - so maybe it is an xi thing!

I had one of those under my front stock bumber which has since been replaced. I though it was a guard. It came in handy for sensing those parking space blocks.
