Hey I just recently bought a new BMW. It is a 2007 525i, and I am new to BMW's my mom has had Audi's, and Porshe's, but we have never had a BMW. She recently bought me one, and I went from having a truck to this BMW. I love the BMW, but I have a few questions about the 525i. We got the car facts from the dealership, and the car came up clean, and everything was good on it, but it seems when you start to get going that the front right tire starts making a weird noise. It sounds like a bearing is going bad in the car maybe, but when I get up to around 65 the steering wheel starts to wobble a little bit. Also when I am sitting in idle the car starts to vibrate, but then when i start to gain speed the vibrating stops. I had the ignition coil checked because that is what I first thought it was, but nothing came up and they said the ignition coils are fine. What do you think the wobble, and the tire is?

Tires could need balancing or maybe a wheel bearing. Its 5 years old so maybe it needs a tune.

The vibration at idle could be the fuel that you are using. The increased ethanol mixtures in fuel today seems to have a big impact on performance of the BMWs. BMWs are designed to adjust to the fuel being used, and during the adjustment, it may run a little rough. Mine used to run rough at start, then smooth out using 93 octane. Now I use 93 octane and cut it with some ethanol free 87 and it runs great.

About the wheel, I would take it to a indy shop and have them look at the bearing and front suspension. Balance may be off too considering the vibration, but the noise shouldnt be because of balance.

I have also discovered a problem with my front right tire. It seems to be wearing much faster than any of my other tires. Have stock run-flats on front, Dunlop. And Bridgestone regulars on the rear, (just replaced rear). E60 09 LCI with Sport Package. Car drives straight and do not experience any steering wobble or noise and/or vibration. I have had the car aligned, all tires balanced and rotated by the dealer.
Are you noticing any unusual wear since discovering your situation?

Not sure why only one tire would be wearing and the noise ehhh? If you just bought the vehicle I'd imagine they would have some type of warranty for it, take it back and complain! Now if all the tires were wearing unevenly that would be an easier question to answer since it's been discussed quite a bit. The E60 has a negative camber causing the inner tires on our vehicles to wear substantially faster. The only two ways I've recognized to battle this is to either get an alignment and request to remove some of the negativity on the camber, although this will affect your performance on turns etc. Another thing that I did is get asymmetrical tires, now I can at least rotate my tires which I wasn't able to do before with directional.
