For those that need to use a front plate and dont want to drill your bumper this might be an option.

I know its for the MINI but if it uses the tow hook it might work for the E60.

that is a good option.
but honestly in my opinion, i dont think i could picture an e60 with the plate off to the side. when i think of plates off to the side, i think of mostly japanese cars. just my opinion.

I have a stash of 3M double-stick tape that I keep in the emergency kit for when I have to drive to the Bay Area (they're so ticket-happy anywhere near the bridges). I use one long strip for the lateral support and two small squares for where the upper two screw mounts are supposed to be. Holds super firm, yet leaves no adhesive residue when peeled off even after being left on the car for a couple days.
