2004 530i iPod adapter installation problem
#1
The vehicle I have is a 2004 (March '04 build) 530i. I do not have NAV nor did I have a CD changer. The local BMW dealer has installed the BMW OEM iPod adapter kit and has now spent 1 1/2 days loading software and trying to synch the iPod with the vehicle without success. Any ideas on how to help the dealer figure this out would be greatly appreciated.

I had similar problems with my ipod retrofit.
My guy had to replace the TCU and then reprogram it and it worked... took a good few hours before he figured it out.
He said that the older TCU (09/ 2003 production year) wasnt communication with BMW systems.
Luckily he didnt charge me for it cause I knew him from a while back.
Try to ask your dealer to use another TCU, used or new.. It should work.
btw, I have a 2004 530i, non-nav, and no cd changer either. (prod yr, 09/2003)
good luck. Worst case... get rid of the ipod adapter and get the dension gateway 500.... its hot!

Is the dension compatible with non Nav business radio? I thought you need professional/NAV/ccc radio
I'm not sure yet myself... I want to take the plunge and buy it... but I'll wait till someone gets it fullworking.
on a Non-Nav e60.
