I've gotten 2 fix-it tickets so far (within the last 2 years) in my old e46 for not having the correct plates.. they were about $25 each; but the last time the cop said that the next inicident will be like around $100.. not sure if he was BS'ing or not.. maybe I'll have to try some heavy duty double stick tape; just hope the Perma-plate doesn't make it less adhesive.

With photo radar making a comeback in CA I wouldn't be so comfortable not having a front plate. They now have a pretty good reason to enforce it.

OOOPS! I meant red light photo enforcement. They seem to be getting installed all over the place lately.

First off, I ran across this forum by accident and it has turned out to be GREAT!!!?

I havn't installed the front license plate holder/frame on my 545i yet; no holes in the bumper!? ? i'd like to keep it that way if i can, but since I'm in CA which requires one, it's going to have to be installed soon.. is there a way to mount the license plate without drilling any holes into the bumper??

The E60 looks fantastic with no front license plate I wish we didn't have to have them in the UK. I think you would last about half an hour before the police expressed their humble opinion.

Kansas doesn't require the front plate. The bad news is BMW drilled the holes when I picked it up ED. My dealer told me that they could patch it up for $85 which isn't too bad except that I never wanted the holes drilled in the first place.

welcome aboard, huy !

rydewitm3, did you just park your car in your garage ? otherwise how could you drive around, w/o front plate and with your paper plate on for year and a half ? no cops around your area ?

a cop (a newbie) was standing on the street corner and used a flashlight to pull over couple weeks ago. i knew what's coming before the cop opens his mouth because i wasn't speeding, wore my seatbelt and stopped at the red light. he asked, "do you know why i pull you over?" of course i have to pretend i don't have a glue. he said because i don't have a front plate. i told me, "front plate ? i asked my dealer before i purchased the emblem plate and they said it's ok. many cars are having the emblem plate." he said my dealer gave me the wrong info. then another cop walked over and told the newbie "many bmw and mercedes don't have front plate." and she just walked away. the newbie just told me "you might want to put your front plate back on." he said "you might want to..." not "you have to". so i still drive around with my emblem plate .
