Front Bumper Cover Chipped-Options
Hi all,
I have a '06 530i E60 with a badly chipped front bumper.
It also has the lower edge pulled back and angled down from scraping over to many parking blocks.
For awhile I was going to go:
1) Replace the bumper cover and have it painted.
2) Then I thought about cutting of the bad lower edge and doing a Vinyl or Plasti-Dip repair.
3) Now I'm leaning towards just cutting off the damaged lower edge and finding a nice front Leather Bumper / Bra cover.
Easiest and cheapest option.
I wanted to post here for recommendations as to what others have done in my position.
I can't be the only one with this dilemma.
So please feel free to let me know if you chose one of the options above or something that I have not thought about.
Thanks,
Bud

Looking forward to hearing the creative ideas on fixing your bumper cover. Should post some pics.
My car was pulled over a curb stop with a rebar piece sticking up. When I backed up the cover was pulled off of the fenders by the rebar. Body shop told me that there was not a "fix" option although Im sure some members here could have fixed it. I called insurance and filed a claim. They covered it for my $500 deductible. Body shop bill was $1700 for new OEM M Bumper cover and paint/install. My insurance premium didn't budge. Good luck.

Are you trying to do it yourself. Nowadays a body shop can even fix a 3 inch hole in the bumper cover, sand, and the spray and no one would know you had the original bumper. Avoid having the bumper cover replaced if possible. My body shop was showing me how the BMW approved paint shop used an oem bumper rather than an OE one on mine. It is so much more rigid which means the paint is likely to crack on impact when the OE one would bend and adjust to the impact. Any body shop that knows their stuff will tell you to keep the original paint and equipment if you can.
