Hi all.
My 520d Manual is coming up to 22k miles and the brake wear indicator is showing 3600 miles left on the front pads. Now I'm pretty sure that it is only guessing as I hardly use the brakes, but how accurate is it? What kind of mileage are you other guys getting? 25k seems mighty low for a "stick shift" even if it is the weight of a Hummer!

I just got my rears replaced for the first time. I have about 24k miles on my 07 and my fronts are still original pads since day one, weird eh?

the DSC applies rear brakes, maybe?
That's good thought, but then again the front brakes take a much harder beating than the rears when braking. DSC only goes off when I lose traction, which doesn't happen very often, unless I force it.

I have a reason the rears may wear quicker but im not sure it relevant to BMWs cars it was a feature on my MY2000 Volvo though. The EBD on the Volvo would apply more pressure on the rears when braking at first to stop the front end diving under braking(called anti dive funny enough).

If the majority of your driving is on highways your rears will wear quicker. In stop and go driving the fronts wear quicker. Diesel engines will wear the fronts faster since that is where all the weight is.

I had Axxis Deluxe on my last 550i and turned the car in with 31000 miles and the brakes still had plenty of wear left. Of course it was a manual and I down shifted so brake use was minimal.
