Hahah its suppose to be out... People just knock it in accidently... There has been complaints about it here before of how people pushing it in accidently can cant get it back out.

Interesting ... i found the switch on my car in when I took delivery of it and then it popped out when I played around trying to figure out what I thought was an issue with my auto headlamps function. Thought I had broken it, until I noticed that, in my User Manual, all illustrations of the switch show it in the "out" position.
I quite like the switch when it's in, though ... nice and flush with the rest of the dash... but it refuses to depress no matter how hard I try

I think the knob is designed to pop in under moderate pressure as a safety feature in case of a collision with a knee, etc.
