My passenger side mirror (left side as UK ) seems to make a whining sound when they fold in when I activate them with the remote key. It sounds like the folding mechanism is going beyond the folded limit. Think I remember someone had the same problem on this forum but can't find it and I'm not sure whether its a known E60 issue.

Anyone experience this and if so how was it resolved by the dealer?

Cheers

It's exactly near the left/right mirror adjustment switch. It's the same shape, but it is just a not retaineable push button.

Mine does this too... Quite embarrassing sometimes!

Thanks Big_Ipaq Wish I'd opted for them. I can't believe my ?45,000 car doesn't have a std automatic dipping rear view mirror when my dads 316 touring does and my brothers 320d touring does as well.

Have the noise, too. Also had it on my last E39...

And expect it to have on the next E60...

I also have the "whining" noise on the passenger side. It comes and goes, but surfaces especiallly after I wash the car. Applied some WD-40 some time ago - haven't heard anything since...we'll see.

I think so too. May be some WD40 in the right place but the action seems to go on for about twice the length it needs too... There doesn't seem to be a sensor to detect when its fully folded in - but looks like there is for folding out!!!
