You can tell by your location "From: Boston MA"
You have manual folding mirror, but not electrical one.

Enough for the joke. If you have folding mirror, I think there should be a switch for folding the mirror in the window switch cluster.

In US, we don't have this feature for E60 as yet. Only for E90 and E65(?) that I've seen the other day.

Or try to push to "lock" button on your remote control for a long time, or press the special button inside the car above the window buttons on the drivers side. Then look if they fold or not .

If manually: push them towards the drivers(passengers) side window

So Mr. My530i, you think you'd be brave enough to tackle adding a wire to the folding mirrors that I've had for a year now! I also purchased the double switch for the driver's side arm? I could be the experiment...and you'd have a flood of people coming to you on future meets! I havn't had luck finding a dealer that is willing to try because of warranty issues.

Hi BBB,
If you dare shipping those mirrors to me along with the switch, I'll be the guinea pig and install on mine to see if it works. I'll then ship it back to you.
Do I miss anything besides the switch? Is there any other door module need to be replaced? I remember vaguely that door module needs to be replace, too. Let me find it.

The black mirrors would kinda look funny on your car! I just looked at the switch...I think it includes the "module" to which you refer. I looks like it simply plugs in...what I don't know is how the switch module and the mirror wiring would connect to my car's wiring existing connection...(I'm not sure which is male/female). I do know that a bmw tech guy has done this with an M3...so I know it's possible...but the dealer won't let me get near to this dude! So YOU THE MAN!!! ...or I've gotta keep looking!!!

Hi BBB,
I just PM'ed you. I volunteer to test it out for you, and I don't mind it's black mirror on my car. Blk mirror on white car is OK, not silver mirror on white. Hint: car with 4-ring logo

Alright jokes over, the color of your mirror is just a cover so you can use your existing cover from your manual folding mirror and just put it on a electronic mirror.
