They come in handy for us but it doesn't sound like you ever use them. I would think they add value for resale though.... by the way never heard a peap from my folding seats on 3 BMWs.

Cheers

Its brilliant, if not only to see the looks on people's face who said "You can't get that in there".

I can appreciate the 1.2 mph of corner speed I get on the tracks due to the rigidity

They should be standard equipment on the E60, as they are on the 3 coup?'s.

Hey Rudy, post the dead hooker diagram again, with folder seats you could double the body count !

It would appear they are standard equipment on Canadian orders.

I hardly use the fold-down seats in the 3er, and can?t recall using the fold-down seats in my previous 5er, and have always suspected they might account for a few rattles.

So I am not planning to get them.

Does anyone object?
I would take the approach of a) do you mind paying for them, b) would you use them very much, c) do you have another car that you can load stuff into.

Fold down seats would be a nice to have feature, but if you have alternatives then not essential IMO.

I'm about to take delivery of E60 number 3 and have not had fold down seats on any of them. Have no need for them, and although they aren't an expensive option (?300 ish), it would literally be a waste of money for me. Other car is an X5, if we are planning to buy something big, we take that. But I can't remember the last time we bought something that wouldn't have fitted in the E60, that we didn't order online and have delivered anyway!

I often take trips that cause me to take a bunch of equipment and tools with me. Even though I could choose to take a different vehicle that offers more utility (like the X5 in your case), the trip wouldn't be as fun if I was in any other car. Fold-down seats are the best solution to help ensure that you aren't forced to take a different vehicle which, in my opinion, makes them worth every penny!

it has come handy for me, maybe about 3 or 4 times a year....... hauling those rugs to the cleaners or buying new ones, also a medium size Christmas tree comes to mind. I even could get a table in there (after unscrewing the legs of course)....

Also, i sometimes have the rear seats folded down or even not "engaged/locked" properly (kind of half way up) while driving around and have never noticed any rattling or squeaks.
