My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
I'm not sure, but I think the mats that have BMW written on the raised heel pad are NOT BMW OEMs (mine are NOT). I know they are made by a local guy right here, but he may have a contract to supply them as accessories (as shown in the US BMW accessory book). However, the ORIGINAL BMW mats don't have a separate, BMW-marked heel pad, and the toggle bolts go right through the mat and into the floor of the car, rather than relying on that adhesive/Velcro-on-bolt-head crap.
I have seen both in E60s (and I had the orginals in my E39 that lasted nearly 80K before a minor bald spot developed under my right heel). Nothing against our local matmaker, but I know he sells a lot to dealers. I'd see if your parts guy can differentiate for you, and if so, get the German ones. These USA-made things are very flimsy and move all around due to their light weight; OEMs are much tighter weave and heavier, and have a more secure attachment system.
BTW, the same applies to the rubber winter mats: the OEM German ones are SMOOTH under your heel, as opposed to US waffle-patterned, that CATCH your heel when shifting. Specify OEM.

I have one that's come out, and I'm having them fix it. It can't take more than a couple minutes. I don't care if it's "technically" part of the car or not. If they won't fix it, I'll start spending tens of thousands of dollars buying BMWs from some other dealer. That approach usually works.

I got 3 sets of matts with my car. Summers on, winters and a spare set of summers in the boot. Didnt pay extra for them. Also got bottles of BMW shampoo, wax, interior cleaner etc.

on the under side of my mats is a large sticky backed velcro, this has started to come away, i got these thrown in on the deal, otherwise they are a ?110 option, i could carpet a small room for that
