Please, I'm not crazy but for what this car costs don't you think the floor mats could be better, my driver side mat is coming apart after only 26,000 miles, many of them highway.

Also, my other pet peeve is how easily the windshield collects microscopic chips that are very visable in the morning sun, this glass is way to soft.

All of us have somthing that makes us crazy about the car, these two are mine.

Still love it and have never regreted buying it, after owning 7 Bimmers in 8 years, I'd say that I'm hooked.

Agreed with respect to the windshield. Never had issues with the mats on the old 545. Had them for 35K miles, mostly city driving with lots of in and out of the vehicle...

I also agree with the windshield specs, tiny chips and sparkles (after only 8100 miles). I was sitting at a light the other day with the sun piercing through and was amazed at all of the light chips.

As for the floor mats, although they haven't come apart, they are quite lightweight and thin compared to those in other cars I've owned. When I took out my summer mats to put in my winter rubber OEM ones (which are sweet!), I couldn't believe how cheap they felt. No biggie...

Used to be you had to pay extra for a set of nice OEM mats, now they're part of the package.... wonder if the cheapening is related.

No, you're not crazy. I've noticed those annoying glass specks as well. At first, I thought I just wasn't washing the glass properly and tried a few glass cleaners. The mats are a bit flimsy, but not that much different than others I've had IMHO. I did get the OEM rubber mats for the winter, so hopefully that will extend the life a little. Nonetheless, as you stated, for the outlay of cash, one might expect more. I've had a great affinity for many of the cars I've owned, even though they've all had a flaw or two. I guess my main pet peeve with my e60 is how easily the paint scratches and chips. Maybe it's my imagination, but it just seems like other vehicles I've owned have had more durable paint. No biggie, but in a perfect world....

Totally agree about the windshields , I had 5800kms when I gave them my car back and it was a very visible issue without even going through a Vancouver winter !!

I agree 100%. Mine windshield is very sparkly and my floor mats are craptacular, both are poor quality. The winter floor mats however are great!

i myself havent noticed the "sparklies" on the windshield of my 2004 yet but i have noticed that the windshield is not smooth where it curves. the image on the side edges gets distorted as if the glass was warped or wavy... i've noticed this on other cars as well so its not just a BMW thing.

i remember someone complaining about the quality of a component and a reply was made that usually BMW gives the manufacturing deals to the lowest bidding companies. so that might have alot to do with it.

my mats are good so far, a tad faded at the black part but i expect it on 4 year old mats.
