I've had my 550i for less than a month and got my tire got hit with a nail. Since I have run flats, I have to replace the whole tire which I got for $385 installed at America's tire. I asked the dealer to replace it on good faith and they said no. I had the same experience with my Lexus and they replaced it without any issues.

I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else. Thanks!

Just had a somewhat similar experience after buying new PS2s from the dealer. Not 3 weeks later got a nail, but frankly I never thought of asking the dealer to replace it for free. They were in no way responsible for my nail. It was not a defective tire, simply bad luck. To be honest, I think you were very lucky to get the Lexus dealer to replace for free.

Edit...
Just to clarify, the nail was too close to the sidewall to fix, so I had to replace the tire at a cost of $280 plus installation...

I've recently had a similar situation also. My left rear tire was leaking air at 15 psi per 6 hours. I searched but could not find a nail of any sort. After thinking it was defective I called the dealer and they stated that it was out of their hands. If I wanted it replaced under warranty, I would have to contact the manufacturer of the tire, open up a case file, get it examined then fill out the necessary paperwork to get it fixed. WHen I went to get it examined, there was a small leak coming from a "weld" in the rubber. In my opinion it looked as if it were defective, but I was told otherwise by Goodyear. Instead of dealing with paperwork/etc I just paid my $28 to repair a tire with less than 1300 miles on it.

I'm surprised that the tires don't come with a road hazard warranty. Tire resellers usually sell this for about $15-$20 a tire. My wife had a blow out, hit a rather large muffler clamp. Ditto - Dealer told me that tire had no road hazzard warranty and we paid for a new tire plus installation.

I think it depends of the dealer...and how much they're willing to put-out for their customers. Fortunately my runflat was repairable with minor damage...done for free. However, at a later service, my SA told me that even if I didn't have complaints with my tires, he offered that there was a bulletin regarding my type of tire...and offered to replace all my tires for FREE! Just my experience.

Right, getting tires replaced because they are defective is the right move. While an extreme analogy, the tire issue is no different than backing into a pole and going back to the dealer, asking them to repair for free. It is not their fault nor is it the tire makers. Catching the nail is not really anybody's fault, just bad luck, but I understand a dealer not replacing. If we had bought tire replacement/wheel insurance, then that would cover the tire. Some dealers push it like they push other extras, mine did not and I probably would not have bought it anyway.
