the RFT system installed in the E60 it's terrible...

Last week got the second flat tire in 90.000 kms.
The problem was to find out which tire was with problems since the lost of pressure was slow.

In the morning i got the RFT warning, stop the car checked the tires and nothing visible.
Reseted the system and continued to drive.
In the afternoon 2nd RFT warning... stopped the car and .... nothing visible. Reseted the RFT and after 10 minutes another RFT warning. Stopped checked the tires and had a little impression that the right front tire was lower than the others. Decided to enter a small town and went to a repair shop since i was entering the highway and it's dangerous with ighs speeds.... After stopped the car the tire was showing the flat. Tire fixed in 5 minutes without taking the wheel off.

The question is that we arent't informed about WHICH tire is with problems!!!!!!

Yesterday went for a drive with a friend in a little Renault Megane and his car has a much better system they got the pressure of each tire and the exact information of the tire faillure.

??????????

I guess having one is better than none... either that or trade in your car... it was said that as of March 2006 they will start telling you what the pressure is in each individual tire... but I havent seen another announcement on it agains. Doesnt matter... I dont trust it... I rahter use a triditional tire guage. I like having proper tire pressure so my tires wear properly and so I can get the MOST out of them.

I would suggest a good digital tire gauge. Using one is the only way to know for sure.
I personally never liked the digitals. The analog dial seems more durable.

Ahh... but I drove a renault laguna for a couple of months about 2 years ago, which had individual monitors telling me the PSI for all the wheels. It actually drove me nuts cause I couldn't get them to read the same.

I'm happier with the BMW system. If it alarms just get your tyre fitter to check the tyres over. I use Kwikfit and they are usual honest (I try to act a bit official so they think I might be from trading standards).

i still think the system it's incomplete .... it was supposed to tell us which tire has a flat tire.

Fully agree Tuga. After all, all the tyres are being monitored and it knows that one of them is going flat.
Surely it's only one line of code to bring up on the display left/front or right/rear.
The actual pressure is not important to know.

Seriously! that is true! I mean the system already reports where its comming from they should have just told us which tire. I guess cant have it all...
