flat battery
my battery died on me this morning
the car was working perfectly last night, got in and tried to start it up this morning, no response, radio and lights working. tried a few times and gave up as i was running late for work!
the plan was to jump it after work and take it for a long drive to charge the battery. checked on it and the whole thing was dead, no interior lights, even the remote key fob to lock/unlock the car does not respond.
the car is 2005 and i guess its the original battery.
whats this i read that it is advisable to return to your dealer to get a replacement battery and also get it registered?
finally; probably sounds like a daft question but; where is the battery kept?
i misplaced the owners hand book when i moved house so i don't have a guide to follow. unlike other cars where you can actually see the battery, we have a red cap for positive and a small bolt for the negative.
thanks in advance!

This may perhaps not be relevant but this happens to me when the temperature goes below 3-4 degrees.
And I think the problem is with the break/break pedal/break fluid.
I find it difficult to press the pedal before starting the car (auto-box).
I think that as a result, the engine thinks that the break pedal is not de-pressed and therefore does not let the car start.
Nothing happens when I turn the key, no sound no nothing.
I then pump the pedal until it softens a bit and the car starts.
Sometimes it lets the engine start but I get all sorts of dashboard alerts, something about "gears can be changed without pressing the pedal, drive carefully".
