I took my car in for a AC problem this morning.
The fan sometimes works and sometimes not.
It does work in auto mode and it cannot either be controlled manually.
It blows air but with some pre-adjusted and low setting
The car has been the whole day at the BMW service garage and they have changed
the fan motor, the fan regulator and the sensors, but nothing did fix it.
Must add that the problem was there with CIP 19.2 and still is there with CIP 24.2
So now the car will be at the service untill...
But it's fun to drive a small free loaner (116i) with stick-shift and spike winter
tyres on super icy roads, lot's of fun, actually

Too bad, but at least you are having fun with the loaner. It sounds like it should be simple to fix, but it isn't a good sign the first attempt didn't solve it. Good luck!

Update, problem solved!
They replaced the fan motor and the regulator yesterday,
but only today they realized that with the new parts a new
programming was also needed
Now the AC and fan works perfect again.
They washed the car inside and outside + the engine for free,
as an excuse.
I'm very satsified with my BMW Service

I think by now we should just assume a software issue after the obvious hardware issues are fixed!
