Kill stories generally aren't bad.
There was one legal case where a young inexperienced driver (I think California) was given an M5 by his parents and the young adult was posting on a forum asking how to drive faster in anticipation of racing someone. This person lost control at 120mph and crashed head on into an unrelated vehicle killing himself and the occupant of the other vehicle. His charges were upgraded because of the premeditation.
Be careful of your emails and texts as well, as they can all be called in as evidence for any type of charge. I don't know the resilt of the case and if the forum posting materially affected the outcome. Anyone know what happened?

Mos of the forums I'm on have banned "kill stories" because 90% of them are fantasy BS and all you wind up with is 35 pages of "it's BS", "no it's not" comments. Then, of course, you have all the (well meaning) people who believe most of the wild stories and get on the "don't race on the street" soapbox. Which leads to the "I'm an adult I can do what I want" responses. Which leads to name calling...which leads to a locked thread. It's basically the same thing every time.
IMO It's all just a waste of time, energy, and bandwidth.
Oh and I've heard the urban legend above with three or four different cars as the one the "young adult" was driving...

not an urban legend: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...-5-killed.html
Don't get me started on the US's Driver "licensing" procedures and tests.

The young adult in the incident that Gene highlighted WAS posting on an internet forum - that was the point. He was a member on M5Board, and while hindsight is, of course, always 20/20, some of his prior posts apparently were open to interpretation.

I was referencing the "..and the young adult was posting on a forum..." piece - not the actual accident. Accidents caused by inexperienced drivers happen every day, but trying to bring the "evil" internet into it as a root cause or some sort of an enabler is just not accurate IMO. If this country was really concerned about motor vehicle accidents states would stop giving driving licenses away like it's a inalienable right.

Now the 3 million resident of Long Island are part of the racetrack because there is nowhere to legally race and the races are held on the street.
