Everyone remembers the first blemish on their new car. Mine came yesterday. When lifting a bicycle wheel out of the trunk, I lowered it to the ground a little too soon and the gear cluster on the hub banged (softly) into the rear bumper's plastic skin, leaving a little scar. I'm a little upset because (a) it's the first blemish and (b) I don't think that plastic should be that soft. No matter, I guess, I drive the car frequently enough. Sooner or later something worse will come along.

On a more practical note, the plastic on the bumper is punctured in a small spot on a horizontal surface. I'm wondering if that is enough to allow water entry during the rainy months, with subsequent corrosion underneath the plastic. Does anyone know if that plastic can be repaired/patched?

time for an mtech kit? In all seriousness, sorry to hear, hope it's not too bad. Keep us posted...

The plastic could be bondo'd sanded and color matched if you really wanna get rid of it. About one week into my previous car the valet backed into something like a front license plate and it look like someone bit my rear bumper...coming out of the club, didnt check my car, noticed it the next morning. Took it to a local paint and body, did what i mentioned previously..they repaired it one day...a little costly...but it was for my piece of mind mostly...

You might want to consider this is an option to fix the bumper too. I bought this but I haven't used it "yet"... I'm sure it'll be inevitable..
