2010 e60 with N52k.
Anyone replaced the 3 heater hoses on the firewall that terminate into the heater radiator?
The hose clamps are not visible from the firewall. How did you remove the 3 hoses at the firewall?
See picture.

I'm trying to replace the heater hoses located in the engine compartment.
Why would I remove the heater core located under the dashboard?
Are you saying I have to remove the heater core to get to the hose clamps?
Those hose clamps are accessed from under the dashboard?

The 3 heater hoses that come off the heater control valve head to the firewall.
The hoses obviously connect to the heater radiator core underneath the dashboard.
However, when you are under the hood and look at the rubber heater hoses going through the firewall, you can't see any hose clamps or how to remove the hoses from the firewall area.

The 2 in question are connected to the core. Unclamp from under the hood then pull out the core and unclamp. No other way.
Why are you trying to change the hoses anyway?

I'm trying to replace the heater hoses because the e60 vehicle I'm driving is 10 years old.
Back in the early 1980's I drove an e28.
After 10 years I was driving down the road and the original heater hose broke and I lost all the coolant. I wish I had proactively replaced it.
Its wise to replace these hoses, but I have not seen a thread of someone doing it on the e60.
One person commented, just remove the heater core. There has to be a better way.

BMW's small hoses are pretty much lifetime compared with E28 vintage - made with EPDM. The big ones, not so much but usually those fail at the coupler rather than the hose. There's a nasty one with a plastic tube that runs across the top of the radiator on some models and the plastic section turns into peanut brittle. Killers on E60 cooling system are the expansion tank and the mickey-mouse shaped fitting on the front of the head.

When you find a better way let me know. Trust me there is not. I've taken the core out before and you have to unclamp it at the core because that's were the clamp is. Unless you find a magical way.
It's a BMW. They don't make it easy for the DIY'er. There is no need to change them. You will be fine. Now the water hoses up front is a different story.

Last night I watched a video of a guy removing his e60 heater core under the dash.
After dismantling the entire dashboard, that job looked to be every bit of 7 hours+.
I can only pray those 3 heater hoses never break and the heater core never leaks.
