yea i know but what about when you rev it to like 4,000 rpm and want to take off it wont let you. Im talking about from a standstill.
Follow these steps:
1) fully disable DSC/DTC
2) Put left foot on brake
3) shift car to drive
4) with left foot on brake, press accelerator
5) look in your rearview mirror (see the smoke)...Mission accomplished

Gene, I tried to spin all 4 on my 530xi with the DTC and DSC off, but to no avail. ...
And you never will, unless you're on an ice sheet. It takes a HECK of a lot more than 300HP/TRQ to spin all four wheels. I think the minimum for a feat like that is 600+HP in a car as heavy as the 5-series. I've only heard tales of the first gen DSM cars (Talon, Eclipse, (and that other one) triplets) and the turbo-charged GMC Syclone. Those DSMs were pushing well over 400HP and the Syclone had north of 700HP, IIRC.

Most Lexii, you can't fully disable the stability control. I believe the IS-F is the first ...
Nope. The IS got it for the '08 model as did the GS.

Your sig shows a 550i. It should produce plenty of tire spinning from a 2000 RPM brake torque launch. 2500 RPM at the most. Any more just abuses the tires or powertrain.

This is the 2nd thread I've discussed tonight (although different boards), re a DSC off tire smoking launch. I've actually not tried it yet in the 550i. I guess I'll just have to for the sake of spreading knowledge to the board. I have chirped the tires and lit up the DSC from a suprisingly mildly agressive launch.

As a reference, I did a standing start Autocross in an E39 M5 (manual tranny). A 1400 rpm launch spun the tires nicely. A mere 1600 rpm overwhelmed them and I had to back off and lost time.
