Many are guided by leasing rather than buying outright so those individuals "go with the flow" when changing cars.

I wonder whether the "5 Series" will be abandoned in droves when the F10 comes along and will be retained only by the cogniscenti (and the poor!).

Interesting question! Maybe we will become like some of the old E39 owners, bitter and highly critical of the new design, championing our "classic" design over the newer model...

Hi, first timer here. Great forum. I drive a 2003 330 convertible right now and am thinking of getting the MY08 535i but I read in various places that the F10 will be coming out in 2009. How reliable are these predictions?

Thanks,

Do a search, but 2009 sounds too soon. I've not kept track of thoughts on when the F10 is introduced but BMW is just introducing the refreshed E60 w/ the 2008 model year (U.S. model year). I doubt they would then intro the F10 a year later. F10 is likely 2-3 years out, at least. But do the search, I now there have been discussions on the F10 introduction on this forum...

I supposed it is how comfortable with your car and whether it starts to break down.... Heard from an E39 owner that his car has been giving alot of problems thus costing him a lot of money.

As for being bitter and critical, well, they do have a point... the E39 is much easier on the eyes... it took me a while before I warmed up to the E60....nevertheless, both are beautifully engineered cars.....

As for the new models, well, my car is pretty much complete and if it doesn't give problems, it should be with me for a while....

BMWs generally have a 7-year life cyle. The E60 was released for model year 04 and should run through model year 2010. The F10 should be released around September 2010 as a MY11.

Sorry, was an attempt at humor, should have tossed in a few more smiley faces! Many E39 owners were not nearly as kind in their comments about the newly introduced E60 as you were. Those of us who originally bought this car very early on had quite a time on some other forums where the E39 owners were real a**holes about the whole situation.

I did try searching in this forum. I typed BMW F10 and F10 in the search box but nothing came up. I understand how folks can get frustrated when old questions are asked again and again by newbies. For that I appoligize. I did a Google search for BMW F10 and it showed quite a few sources mentioning 2009 as launch year. It does sound a bit too soon.

Thank you.
