Q1 : Automatic light mode
I'm always finding that the automatic light mode is not nearly sensitive enough. Is it possible to adjust it to make it more or less sensitive (so that it doesn't need quite so much darkness before it turns them on) ? When I drive through tunnels (which is quite often around here) they switch on just fine, they are working. However, I'll quite often observe that maybe 70% of people are driving with lights on and mine haven't determined it's worth switching them on. If it's moody, mirky, misty, raining or very overcast, I want them on.
Q2: With my '04 545 and Program V32.1, can I enable DRL? If I do, which lights will it use? and can I change it to use angel eyes?
Q3: Does anyone know of a place east of the atlantic to buy these Xenon-look angel eyes? How much are they roughly? How long do they take to install?

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
Q1: If you want then on, put them on. But yes, the auto lights are not perfect.
In my mind they are too sensitive. I don't use the DRL in the winter time at.
It's always too dark for them.
I don't think the sensor is adjustable.
Q2: At least on the LCI's DRL are the Engel Eyes, but the outside roundels are much more intense
than they used to be on the pre-LCI.
They are even good for day lights in Scandinavia, where we have to have the lights on - always.

Cute typo .. Engel .. You managed to produce a typo which is actually the German for Angel
I'm hoping that if I get the Xenon-look Angel eyes then they'd be good enough to be DRLs here too.

Mine are actually more sensitve since the LCI retrofit - anyway, you can get the sensitivity adjusted at the dealer, I had mine done because of the same problem when I had the pre-lci LM.
You should have DRL already in the i-drive. This means the low beams will activate when the key is in position 2.

Q2: I don't think you can enable the DRLs on the pre-LCI models but if that's now an option with the new software, you should be able to find it in iDrive. I couldn't do it with my 2004 545 but then again, I had an older software version back then. I had to get the dealer to activate them and they charged me like $90 for labor IIRC. The DRLs on the pre-LCI cars are the two inner lights closer to the kidney grill. Those lights are also your flash-to-pass high beam lights.
Q3: Several companies make upgraded white angel eye bulbs that will ship to Europe. CustomAngelEyes.com and Umnitza.com are the two most popular vendors for these. The cost is from around $150-$300 a set I believe.
