I just got a copy of the 2006 BMW fast facts book from my sales person and I noticed that the curb weight of the E60 models are different from those on BMWUSA.com tech specs.

BMWUSA.COM technical data
Curb weight

525i manual 3428 lbs F/R 49.8/50.2
525i auto 3450 lbs F/R 50.2/49.8

530i manual 3472 lbs F/R 50.8/49.2
530i Auto 3494 lbs F/R 51.1/48.9

550i Manual 3803 lbs F/R 51.3/48.7
550i Auto 3814 lbs F/R 51.4/48.6

BMW Fast Facts 2006 Book
Curb Weight

525i manual 3396 lbs F/R 50.6/49.4
525i auto 3439 lbs F/R 51.0/49.0

530i manual 3450 lbs F/R 51.1/48.9
530i Auto 3472 lbs F/R 51.4/48.6

550i Manual 3902 lbs F/R 51.4/48.6
550i Auto 3924 lbs F/R 51.7/48.3

both the 525i and 530i seems like they have gone down in weight and makes sense since we got the new N52 engine thats lighter then the old M54 engine

From the 545i to the 550i weight went up a bit. 550i in manual gained an extra 99 pounds.
the 550i Auto gained 110 pounds.

seems like BMWUSA.COM has not updated a lot of there information for the tech specs on the E60.

yeah sure did so that means that the 545i in auto has a power to weight ratio of 11.7
The BMW 550i in Auto has a power to weight ratio of 10.9
so the power and weight increase only decreased the the power ratio by just 0.8 which is better but not that that that great.

Yes, your data are interesting. So, the 550i has, in effect, only about 350 HP.

Compared to the 545's 325 in relative terms right?

[/quote]I was just using the rule of thumb of 10 lbs of non-rolling weight equalling about 1 HP. Thus, I was not implying any direct connection with the 545i. The best connections with the 545i are the lbs/HP ratios mentioned above. But, yes, the extra lbs. make all 545i's look better and the "Mind Candy" 545i look better specifically.
