Apparently one of the bugs that I hit on the way to the airport was a rock. The result is a slight indentation in the hard vinyl bumber facia next to the left kidney, and titanium silver paint knocked off down to the black vinyl, about a cm in diameter.

Has anyone had any experience in getting a repair that looks decent? -- I will obviously not pay $thousands to replace the entire facia, but absolutely have to get something done.

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me (though the resulting black dot is a lot smaller). My hood also has 2 small scratches that was a result of a rock hitting it.

I'm getting a clear bra (with extended hood coverage) installed on Thursday for around $650. Hopefully this will lessen damages from rocks (expecially with winter coming soon)

Try the touch up or paint chip repair technics from this car detail forum.

Search for key words on "Mothers California Gold Paint Chip Repair" "Langka" "chips" "Touch up".

Don't buy the autosharp pen. I tried it and didn't like the results. Use BMW touch up paint and Mothers California Gold Paint Chip Repair to smooth out the blob.

Where are you having the clear bra done? Please let me know how it looks.

I got the 3M bra installed at a local detail / tint shop. The installer uses Xpel for the pattern. He has his own plotter. If you're standing in front of it, you can see the lines clearly.
