My Ride: Due in May 2005 - 535d sport, Silver Grey, Grey Dakota Leather, Maple Wood, Xenons, Adaptive Headlights, High Gloss Shadow Line, 6 CD Changer, M Rear Spoiler

Took car in today for the eyebrow fix, which aren't working afetr a software upgrade to sort the transmission slam, to be told that it was not possible to have these lights working anymore!!

I told then about SIB 631706, posted previously on the forum, which confirms a fix is poss, but they told me that SIB didn't exist

Please, anybody with anymore info please advise/help, I'm getting somewhat frustrated!!

Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

I just wanted to pass comment that, as an ex-software engineer with experience of embedded controllers, etc, I find it incredibly hard to believe that a software fix for the transmission should affect the eyebrow lighting. The only reasonable conclusion I can draw is that the memory available for storing the program is very limited. Thus, if extra bytes were required to fix a transmission problem, they may have had to do away with "nice to have" features. Or, maybe addressable I/O space previously occupied by lighting functions has now been given over for transmission duties.

Either that, or BMW employ the most incompetent software engineers in the world.....

I took my car to my dealer for SOS error message as well as the eye brows issue (Which I lost when they updated the software after installing a MOST bus for iPod). My SA called me back 3 hours later telling me ALL DONE.

They replaced the TCU unit for the SOS message and reprogrammed the LED lights module - all in 3 hours

Sounds like a lame dealership, I got mine upgraded a couple weeks ago because my eyebrows never worked... now they are fine, my iDrive is at least 2.5-3x as fast as before!!! Love that when scrolling though my ipod.

Check out another dealer, this was done totally free.

Just picked it back up yesterday and am told by the dealer there is still no fixing for this. I've asked if they can install the software for the new cars in to mine, they said that is totally seperate and they can't do that.

I've told them version 24.02 will work, but they said that's the version they have been trying.

If you haven't already, you might want to print a copy of the "non existent" SIB 631706 and show it to them. But, if they are lying to you about this, I don't know if I would want them working on my car unless no other dealership was close.

Copy of SIB 631706 can be found here: http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/bullet...mp/B631706g.htm

Good luck.

No, I am not a subscriber to www.bmwtis.com. I had this link from a previous thread and thought I would just pass it along. I wish I had a login to have full access though
