I was cleaning my car today and noticed a small cable poking out from under the rear seat on the right side. I lifted off the rear seat cushion and noticed the 2 connected wires that must be for the heated rear seat. But there is this third plug! It looks similar to the other two plugs. Anyone know what this is for? Is this for some option I did not get? I has just gotten my car back from service yesterday. My iDrive screen froze up on the "BMW" welcome screen. No radio, navigation, phone connectivity, nothing. The service report indicated they upgraded my idrive to version 21.1 (or .2, don't have the report with me at this time, will double check tonight). Do they need to mess with the rear seat for a software update? Did they leave something unplugged?

Dunno, but don't let the kids pile in with wet bathing suits.

Cheers,

I can't say 100% but I think that there's a connector that's tucked under the back seat that is used in some fashion before the car gets it's PDI (pre-delivery inspection) so I think you're okay.

Again, I'm not 100% and I can't see your plug but if everything seems to be working, I think you're okay. Ask the dealer next time you get a chance and I'll be you'll find that they'll provide you with some similar story...

Thank you Rudy! My wire also has the "Batteriehauptschalter" tag so that is what it must be!

Oh, I reread my service report. FYI, my version is now 21.2. I don't know if that is the latest but now we know there is at least a version 21.2.

Is there a pic of this wire? In my car, I can't find a trace of such a wire. Perhaps on the latest model, the've carefully hidden it - or the guy who has to put the wire in the right place is back from sick leave

I think the person who tucks it into the connector's "final resting place" is located at the dealership. I think they do it right after the cars are taken off the truck, during the PDI. Either that or maybe the truck driver does it before he turns over the cars to the dealer...that would avoid a huge pile of disconnect switches sitting at the dealership!
